Dear readers,
I am sending you all a Christmas card from Denmark ✉️
This year I continued to find time to visit some special places in Earth 🌎
In the beginning of the year, I visited Sweden again for a week of skiing with my boyfriend and our friends ⛷️. I finally made it to the peak, taking the lift all the way to the highest mountain in Åre 🏔️. What a view!

In April I started to do some bird banding again after a short break 🐦
In May I bought an E-bike and started visiting Kalvebod Fælled more frequently, it’s a Natura 2000-site near Copenhagen designated for its high concentration of birds.
I got better at using my camera to take more bird photos in my own neighborhood 📸

In June I visited Greece for the 28th time (and this time a completely different part of the country!), as my mother and I visited Thessaloniki and Kerkini Lake and it’s thousands of birds 🦢🇬🇷

Then I got really lucky as I managed to get a birding tour this August with like-minded young people from Denmark. The trip was long awaited, and the destination was ECUADOR 🇪🇨
Ecuador has been at the top of my list, since I started studying to become a biologist. This trip here in 2025 took me from the tall, breathtaking Andean mountains (and all its cloud forests, glistening hummingbirds), to the wild, wet rainforest of the Amazon.
I hope that the people of the Amazon rainforest (no matter the nationality!) will continue to be able to preserve this important natural reserve from further destruction.

Following mainland Ecuador I joined another group for an amazing cruise around the north, central, south and east islands of the Galapagos Islands!! What a joy!!! I met some interesting people from around the globe during this cruise.
My biggest accomplishment this year was without doubt reaching Basecamp of the volcano Cotopaxi at 4864 meters above sea level. It was a spontaneous decision to take this last trip during my time in Ecuador.

Now I am all cozied up in a cabin in Denmark as I am writing this. I am enjoying some time in nature and a break from the busy work life in Copenhagen.
I wish you all a merry Christmas and a happy new year!
Here are some of my paper bird decorations which brighten up the apartment during December. This toucan from Ecuador is the newest addition. The paper bird designs are owned by Lars Holmsted.

The paper birds are so much fun! Love a pop of color that reminds one of past travels.
Thank you! Yes that was exactly my thoughts 😊
