After a three-week trip to Indonesia, I sought birdwatching opportunities in Malaysia, specifically near Kuala Lumpur. I chose Bukit Tinggi for its rich bird species, staying at the Chateau Wellness & Spa Hotel. Despite discovering many birds near the hotel and Japanese and Botanical Gardens, navigating the area without a car posed challenges. I enjoyed the wildlife, including squirrels and monkeys, but the resort's layout limited access to the best birding spots. Overall, it was a peaceful experience amidst nature.

This post is about a two-day jungle trek in Sumatra, Indonesia, as part of a three-week group trip. I explored Bukit Lawang, ventured into Gunung Leuser National Park to see semi-wild Sumatran orangutans, and experienced basic camping. The adventure included hikes, delicious meals, and river tubing, emphasizing the unique wildlife and community.
Wild Camping in Sweden: A Summer Experience
The summer camping trip to Sweden involved exploring the outdoors, cooking with a Trangia, and foraging for wild berries and mushrooms. Traveling from Copenhagen to Vättern, we camped in various locations, including Tivedens National Park. Despite challenges in finding secluded spots, we enjoyed swimming in stunning lakes and appreciated the facilities available, ultimately concluding that free camping could be improved with better planning.
Italy: A Beautiful Trip to Torbole, Limone sul Garda & Malcesine
We had five-nights at Lake Garda, Italy in July 2024. We stayed in Torbole, enjoying local landscapes and exploring nearby towns like Limone sul Garda and Malcesine. The charm of these locations, along with unique attractions and dining experiences, inspired a deeper appreciation for Lake Garda. I have shared travel tips, including parking advice and recommendations for gelato and scenic hikes, highlighting the region's outdoor appeal and vibrant culture.
Madeira: A half-day hike to Risco and the 25 Fontes
During my family vacation to Madeira in January 2024, we hiked the 'Levada das 25 Fontes' and 'Levada do Risco' with a tour guide. Opting for a guide was necessary due to transportation constraints. The trail showcased local wildlife, Laurissilva forest, Levadas, and featured a thrilling 800-meter tunnel. I thoroughly enjoyed the experience and hope to return for more exploration.
Madeira: Funchal Funicular and Monte Palace Tropical Garden
During our visit to Madeira in January 2024, we enjoyed easy access to Funchal city center from our hotel by walking or taking the public bus. A highlight was the Monte Palace Tropical Garden, accessible via the funicular, offering stunning views and diverse experiences like admiring beautiful trees and flowers, vibrant koi fish, and exotic birds.
