Follow us on our journey to Shark Bay, and learn why the area earned its status as ‘World Heritage Area’. Exploring Western Australia: A Road Trip Itinerary from Perth to Exmouth
We chose Western Australia from these criteria: Good snorkeling, possible to do in ~14 days time, beautiful scenery, unique nature (like the Kalbarri and Ningaloo Reef), lots of wildlife (kangaroos) and nice beaches.
Camping in Cape Range National Park and snorkeling on the Ningaloo Reef: Western Australia’s Coral Coast
While we camped in Cape Range National Park, we had the best days of our entire Australia trip. It was pure bliss – the beaches were white, the waters turquoise, the reef was teeming with colorful fish, corals, rays and we even snorkeled with a chill sea turtle!
Kalbarri National Park: The Grand Canyon of Australia
Kalbarri National Park is a grand place that took my breath away – it felt surreal standing in the middle of this huge canyon. It was my second favorite place along the West coast of Australia, only beaten by the Ningaloo Reef in Cape Range National Park in the very north-western corner of WA.

Outstanding hikes and wildlife encounters along the rugged coastline of Bruny Island, Tasmania + must see places
During my visit to Tasmania I spent one night on the lovely Bruny Island. It is the most southern island off Tasmania, it has bewildering landscapes and local wildlife is abundant on the island. For wildlife viewing, it is a great place to see some of the iconic animals of southern Australia.
Western Australia: The Pink Lake – Hutt Lagoon in Port Gregory
During our first ever road trip with a rented autocamper, we embarked on our 15-day-long trip. One of our stops was at the surreal Pink Lake, also known as Hutt Lagoon, a place we were recommended on the way north of Perth. Although we had to drive a little off the fastest route to Exmouth,…
